Non-blocking Data Center Network with Strong Caching Capabilities #
Designed for next-generation data centers and cloud computing, all products in this switch series are line-rate, conforming to the data flow trends of “East-West” traffic. The series can support the construction of non-blocking data center networks with strong caching capabilities and advanced buffer scheduling mechanisms to ensure effective use of the device’s caching capacity.
Data Center Virtualization Features #
Supports VSU 2.0 (Virtual Switch Unit) virtualization technology, which consolidates multiple physical devices into one logical device for unified operation and management, reducing network nodes and increasing reliability. The switches also enable fast failover of links (50~200ms), ensuring uninterrupted transmission of critical services. Cross-device link aggregation is supported, facilitating active-active link uplinks for access servers/switches.
Data Center Overlay Network #
Supports VXLAN, meeting the needs of building overlay networks in data centers and overcoming traditional network limitations like VLAN quantity and scalability. The network built on this series of switches allows new subnets to be created without changing the physical topology and without concerns for physical network IP address or broadcast domain restrictions.
Layer 2 Network Expansion in Data Centers #
With VXLAN technology, layer 2 frames can be encapsulated in UDP tunnels, allowing logical layer 2 networks to be built on top of L3 networks. The switches support the EVPN protocol, enabling automatic discovery and authentication of VXLAN tunnel endpoints (VTEP), reducing data-plane flooding, simplifying VXLAN deployment, and improving the efficiency of large layer 2 network construction within the data center.
RDMA Lossless Ethernet #
Supports RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access) for low-latency, lossless Ethernet transmission, optimizing business forwarding performance while significantly reducing per-bit cost and enhancing business competitiveness.
Hardware-based Traffic Visualization #
Leverages the hardware capabilities of the chip to provide end-to-end traffic visualization across complex, multi-path, multi-node networks. This allows for centralized monitoring of session paths and delays, improving fault location efficiency by more than tenfold.
Telecom-grade Reliability #
The RG-S6510 series supports power redundancy, with built-in redundant power modules and modular fan assemblies. All power and fan modules support hot-swapping without affecting device operation. The switches also support fault detection and alarms for power and fan components, as well as automatic fan speed adjustments based on temperature, making them well-suited for data center environments. The series also offers multiple device-level and link-level reliability protection features, including overcurrent, overvoltage, and overheat protection.
In addition, the series supports various link reliability technologies such as Rapid Ethernet Uplink Protection (REUP) for fast link failover. It also supports GR perfect restart, BFD fast forwarding detection, and other mechanisms, ensuring the network’s convergence time does not affect business operations even under heavy traffic.
IPv4/IPv6 Dual Stack Multi-layer Switching #
The hardware of the RG-S6510 series supports dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 multi-layer line-rate switching. The devices distinguish and process IPv4 and IPv6 packets and support various tunnel technologies such as manual tunnels, automatic tunnels, and ISATAP tunnels. The series provides flexible communication solutions between IPv6 networks based on current network conditions.
Rich IPv4 and IPv6 Routing Protocols #
Supports a wide range of IPv4 routing protocols, including static routing, RIP, OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP4, catering to different network environments. The switches also support comprehensive IPv6 routing protocols such as static routing, RIPng, OSPFv3, and BGP4+, offering flexible options for building or upgrading to IPv6 networks.
Comprehensive Security Policies #
The RG-S6510 series provides various mechanisms to effectively prevent virus spread and hacker attacks, including measures against DoS attacks, IP scanning detection, ARP message legitimacy checks, hardware ACL strategies, and more. IPv6 ACLs are also supported, ensuring easy access control for IPv6 users in IPv4 networks.
Management security is enhanced with source IP-based Telnet access control, preventing unauthorized access and attacks. SSH and SNMPv3 provide secure device management by encrypting Telnet and SNMP information, preventing attacks on device management.
Extensive Management Features #
Supports various management interfaces such as Console, MGMT, and USB. The devices also offer SNMP support, network traffic analysis reports, and features that help users optimize network structures and adjust resource deployment efficiently.
