The Cisco ASR1001-HX is a compact, high-performance Aggregation Services Router in the Cisco ASR 1000 Series, featuring 4x10GE + 4x1GE fixed ports, dual power supplies, and optional crypto capabilities. Designed for enterprise WAN edge deployments, it provides robust Ethernet connectivity with full-duplex traffic forwarding, rich Layer 2 and Layer 3 processing, IP, IPv6, and MPLS support.

• Fixed Ethernet Line Cards: ASR1000-2T+20X1GE (twenty 1GE + two 10GE) and ASR1000-6TGE (six 10GE), capable of 40-Gbps full-duplex forwarding.
• Modular Interface Processor (ASR1000-MIP100): Full-duplex 100-Gbps, hosts up to two Ethernet Port Adapters (EPAs) for 40GE and 100GE connectivity.
• EPAs include: 1-port 100GE QSFP, 1-port 100GE, 2-port 40GE (Native QSFP and breakout), 1-port 40GE (with optional license for second port), 10-port 10GE, 18-port 1GE.

Software and Security Support

Minimum Cisco IOS XE versions ensure compatibility: For built-in 1GE and 10GE ports on ASR1001-HX, MACsec requires XE 16.4.1. Various EPAs have specific release requirements across platforms like ASR1002-HX and ASR1000-MIP100. MACsec licenses available per port speed (1GE, 10GE, 40GE, 100GE). IPsec/MACsec license for ASR1001-X models.
