Overview
The HPE Storage Fibre Channel Switch C-Series SN6610C (MDS 9132T) is a next-generation 32 Gbps Fibre Channel switch that provides high-speed Fibre Channel connectivity from the server rack to the SAN core. It supports small, medium and large enterprises that are rapidly deploying cloud-class applications using extremely dense virtualised servers, offering the dual benefits of greater bandwidth and consolidation in a compact, single rack unit (1RU) form factor. The switch offers advanced analytics and telemetry capabilities built into its next-generation ASIC platform. For maximum flexibility, the HPE Storage Fibre Channel Switch C-Series SN6610C is scalable from 8 to 32 ports. In addition, investing in this switch for low-speed (8 or 16 Gbps) server racks allows you to upgrade to 32 Gbps server connectivity in the future.
The HPE Storage Fibre Channel Switch C-Series SN6610C can be configured, managed, monitored, and troubleshooted using Cisco Data Centre Network Manager (DCNM), which now manages the entire Cisco Data Centre product suite. It is powered by the C-Series MDS 9000 NX-OS software, which includes storage networking features and functionality, and works in conjunction with the C-Series SN8500C/SN8700C (MDS 9700) family of multilayer guides, the C-Series SN6620C (MDS 9148T) multilayer fabric switch, the C-Series SN6630C (MDS 9396T) multilayer fabric switch, the C-Series SN6010C (MDS 9396T) multilayer fabric switch, and the C-Series SN6010C (MDS 9396T) multilayer fabric switch. HPE SN6000C Data Center Network Manager E-LTU
The “standard” Cisco Data Centre Network Manager (Essentials Edition) software that comes free with the SN6610C switch provides basic switch configuration and troubleshooting functionality. HPE’s C-Series Data Centre Network Manager (DCNM) licenses (for SN6000C fabric switches) extends Cisco Data Center Network Manager with advanced features such as historical performance data collection for network traffic hotspot analysis, centralised management services, and advanced application integration. By default, a 30-day trial licence (with advanced features) is enabled on the switch. Starting with Cisco DCNM version 11.5(1), the trial period is extended to 120 days with 50 licences. However, for online upgrades, the trial period remains at 60 days and the number of licences remains at 500. Customers must purchase the HPE SN6000C DCNM Switch E-LTU to continue to use the advanced DCNM features.
