Overview
The HPE M Series with NVIDIA Cumulus® Linux Series Ethernet Switches meets the complex networking needs, growth, and expansion of today’s data centres, and is ideally suited for top-of-rack (TOR) deployments, as well as for virtualised environments, hyper-converged infrastructures, and storage deployments. HPE M Series Ethernet switches give you the right amount of network bandwidth and deliver consistent, zero-packet-loss performance for high-performance and storage workloads.
The HPE Storage Switch M-Series SN2100M with NVIDIA Cumulus® Linux is based on the first generation of NVIDIA SpectrumTM switches and is built for leaf/trunk/super trunk data centre applications. The half-width 1U SN2100M provides maximum flexibility, offering port speeds from 1GbE to 100GbE and port densities that enable full rack connectivity to any server. In addition to advanced features, the SN2100M offers a fully shared 16MB packet buffer on-chip and flexible port usage. The uplink ports allow multiple blocking ratios to meet any application requirement. The SN2100M is ideally suited for building cloud-scale Layer 2 and Layer 3 networks. The SN2100M platform delivers high performance, consistent low 300 nanosecond pass-through latency, and supports advanced software-defined networking features, making it ideal for web-scale IT, cloud, hyper-converged storage, and data analytics applications. The HPE Storage Switch M-Series SN2100M provides a high-density, side-by-side 1/10/25/100GbE switching solution that scales up to 64 subports per switch in a single rack unit (1RU) using QSFP28 branch cables to meet the growing demands of today’s storage, database, and data centre environments. The SN2100M is uniquely designed for maximum rack performance. Its design allows two switches to be placed side-by-side in a single 1RU slot in a 19-inch rack, providing high availability for hosts. Each SN2100M features 16 QSFP28 slots with 3.2Tb/s of switching capacity, including 2.38 Bpps of processing power when running 16 ports at 100GbE, and 6.4Tb/s and 4.76Bpps when two units are deployed side-by-side in 1RU rack space.

HPE Storage Switch M-series SN2100M Ethernet switches are based on the high-performance 25GbE NRZ encoding capable Spectrum-1 ASIC and are ideally suited for both top-of-rack leaf and fixed configurations with capabilities:
- Ethernet port speeds from 1Gbps to 100Gbps
- 16 100/40GbE QSFP28 ports
– All 16 QSFP28 ports support split x4 or x2 mode (16×4=64 breakout ports maximum)
- 16MB of fully-shared packet buffering
- Optional per port or global store-and-forward switching for noisy fabric error containment
- Feature-rich layer 2 and layer 3 forwarding
- Ultra-low latency with true cut through performance, Zero packet loss performance with NVMe TCP and RoCEV2 RDMA, DCBX, PFC, ECN support
